Planning permission and listed building consent have been granted for internal and external works to a Grade II listed building, which forms part of the planned estate around Wilton Crescent and northern Belgravia. The renovation of the house will also see a roof terrace to the main house. We advised on the proposed works, in consultation with a wider professional team.

After a couple of planning applications and pre-planning applications, permission has eventually been granted for extensive works at the rear, basement and garden of a terraced house in Belgravia, London. The client wished to extend the house for his growing family, but the Council's restrictions on works in this part of London were very strong. After much persuasion we managed to secure a scheme for a two storey addition to the rear, a lowered garden, and a new taller closet wing extension.
Client: private householder An appeal has been allowed to grant planning permission for a rear extension to a semi-detached house in Surrey. The client had submitted a scheme before our involvement, which had been refused permission on the grounds of design and harm to the neighbours. We advised in relation to a modified design to address design issues, but anticipated the amenity issue may remain. Following the refusal on amenity grounds we took the case to appeal and successfully argued that there would be no harm to the nearest residents. Planning permission was granted by the Inspector.
Client: private householder An appeal has been allowed for re-modelling and extension at the back of a terrace house in Chiswick, London. The Council had refused permission due to the scale of the extension, the design and the effect on neighbours. We made the case that the extension would be suitable for the house and there would not be any harm to light or outlook. The appeal was allowed, and the clients now have a much larger extension than the Council would have permitted.
Client: private householder Listed building consent and planning permission have been granted for internal works to a large, laterally converted flat at a terrace of housing in Belgravia. The scheme also includes new plant and upgraded servicing for the property, including air conditioning apparatus on the roof. We were involved in presenting the case to the local planning authority and undertaking the necessary negotiations.
Client: private householder We have recently assisted in securing a Certificate of Lawfulness to confirm the implementation of a double basement in Kensington & Chelsea. We secured planning permission for the large extension 3 years ago at appeal - one of the last of the famous 'super basements' granted in the Borough - and the client knew that a renewal of permission would not be possible. Careful advice was needed to ensure that the permission commenced lawfully, and so ensure the valuable permission did not lapse.
Client: private householder Planning permission has been granted for a ground floor extension to a property in Notting Hill. This will serve a ground floor flat, and the roof of the extension will be a new terrace for the first floor flat. Two pre-application submissions had been made by architects, which raised a number of tricky issues still to be resolved. We were asked to present the case in relation to the strict RBKC policies. Permission was granted at the local level within 8 weeks.
Client: private householders We won an appeal for a large two storey front extension to a house, within a residential area of South London. The application had been refused by the Council due to their design guidance resisting front extensions, and their concerns regarding effect on neighbours. We demonstrated to the Inspector that an exception to the supplementary planning guidance on design should be made in this instance, as the design of the extension was suitable for the house and the street. We also demonstrated there would not be any effect on the next door houses.
Client: private householder After a long-running series of planning applications, applications for Certificate of Lawfulness, enforcement notices and four conjoined appeals heard at an Inquiry, we managed to have enforcement notices quashed for two properties near Ascot where the gardens had extended into Green Belt land. The cases raised complex issues of law and policy, and we were pleased that the patience of our clients held out to get the result they desired.
Client: private householders We were asked by an architect to help advise in relation to a property where there was a long planning history of applications, refusals and appeals. The clients wanted to achieve new ancillary buildings for their house, and better stabling for their equestrian land to replace ageing stables. The Green Belt policy and the past planning history were difficulties for the site. We prepared advice and submitted a planning application, which was approved under delegated powers by the local authority.
