We were involved in the recent Judicial Review of the issuing of a Special Development Order by the Home Secretary for the use of Napier Barracks in Kent to house aslyum seekers. We provided evidence for the Court, which ruled the decision to house refugees at the site was unlawful.

We have been involved for a number of years in the preparation of the new South Oxfordshire District Local Plan, making representations on behalf of a number of clients opposing development. The Plan has proved to be highly controversial in relation to housing allocations, and we have advised our clients in detail behind the scenes and made appearances at meetings over the years. We recently appeared at the virtual sessions for the Examination of the Local Plan, which is the first full virtual Hearing in the country.
Client: private individuals and Haseley Brook Action Group We have recently given evidence for the Family Court in a dispute between two parties. Our opinion was asked regarding the development potential for an area of land within the Berkshire countryside, as an expert witness to enable the ruling by the Judge.
Client: joint appointment by solicitors We were called in by solicitors to assist one of their clients who was at threat from prosecution for non-compliance with an enforcement notice and dismissed appeals. The client had been told he must vacate the land and effectively lose all rights for any useful purpose.
We appraised the case and came to a different interpretation of the situation. We then undertook discussions with the local authority and submitted a series of applications to regularise the use of the land. In the face of continued prosecution action, we managed to negotiate a new building on the land and storage in the countryside. Client: private company We were involved as an expert witness on town planning matters regarding the enfranchisement of a large property in Kensington. The price to be paid for the acquisition of the freehold was disputed and the matter determined by the Tribunal. Our evidence was part of the case that saw a very substantial reduction in the price payable by our client for the freehold.
Client: private company We appeared in the Central London Court to give evidence as an Expert Witness in a case concerning a contested lease and the development value of a property. This involved an appraisal of the options for developing the building for various uses, and commenting on the other party's assumptions relating to the potential for planning permission.
