Planning permission and listed building consent have been granted for an extension to a gate house that serves a large, active country estate on the edge of Wargrave, Berkshire. The estate is a home for a family and their equestrian interests, and there is a large permanent and temporary staff for the estate. There was an urgent need for additional staff accommodation and the estate's location in the Green Belt, a conservation area and being listed were significant constraints on expanding the buildings. Protected trees were a further constraint.
We advised and coordinated a comprehensive submission to the Council to demonstrate the need for a large extension to a gate house to provide the space needed by the estate. The application was approved under delegated powers.
