A planning application was submitted on open land next to our clients' house in an Oxfordshire village. We made objections on behalf of local residents. Planning Officers were minded to approve the application, but the Planning Committee was persuaded to refuse the application.

Looking sparkling in the Spring sunshine, we were pleased to see the completion of a roof extension to a mixed commercial and residential property on Fulham Road, Chelsea.
The Council had refused planning permission for the extension on the grounds of design, for this prominent corner site adjoining a conservation area. We successfully argued at appeal that the design was more suited for the building and context than the 'traditional' scheme the Council preferred. The Inspector agreed that there should always be a place the zinc finish would be suitable. Client: private developer A planning application was submitted close to a client's house, in a village conservation area in rural Oxfordshire. The development would have seen a large increase in the amount of housing, close to the client, and with a very difficult access. The Planning Officer recommended the application for approval, but Councillors were persuaded to refuse planning permission.
Client: private householder A client had converted his house into flats a number of years ago. He wanted to rent them out, but he could not do this without any formal grant of planning permission or confirmation from the Council that the use was lawful. We were asked to establish the lawfulness of the case, and we advised and prepared a detailed submission to the Council. The Certificate of Lawfulness was approved by RBKC within 8 weeks.
Client: private householder Planning permission has been granted under delegated powers for the redevelopment of a redundant garage and house on the edge of a village in Berkshire, south of Windsor. The scheme will see detached and semi-detached houses replacing an unattractive and redundant site, and the case involved presenting information relating to past uses and the issue of the Green Belt.
Client: Zion Properties Ltd A small project, but potentially tricky - conversion of a garage serving a large house within the Chilterns AONB, near Henley-on-Thames. The case involved investigation of the planning history of the property and presenting a case to demonstrate that the additional living accommodation would not be a self-contained house in the countryside, but would provide for the needs of the owners of the house and their desire for staff rooms.
Client: private householder Planning permission had been granted for a modern house in the countryside, near Wokingham in Berkshire, as a self-build project. The permission did not include everything that the client wished, and we were involved in a long-running saga to get additional outbuildings and garage for the landowner. Through various applications for planning permission and lawfulness we eventually obtained, on appeal, the building that the client wanted, and he can complete his own 'Grand Design'.
Client: private householder We have recently won an appeal for the extension and conversion of a property near Twickenham Stadium to provide new flats. The Council had refused permission on the grounds of inappropriate design, but we successfully argued that the scheme would reflect the character of the area.
The appeal was also allowed without any affordable housing contribution, parking restrictions or a multitude of other conditions that the Council had sought to impose on the developer; we successfully argued why such requests were not reasonable in this instance. Client: private developer A small project, but valuable for the client. Change of use of premises to residential had been granted by the Council, but with the requirement that future occupants could not have an on-street parking permit. We demonstrated why that restriction should not be imposed, and the planning conditions were removed. This achieved an increase in value for the new property.
Client: private developer We were pleased to see some of our projects included in the Grosvenor London Estate annual review, including this at Mount Street. We appraised the property to assist in the change of use and alterations to the ground floor, and creation of improved residential space on the upper floors.
