We provided advice regarding the conversion of a dilapidated commercial building just off Oxford Street. Our advice looked at the heritage issues for the works to the building, and the change to a mix of commercial and residential uses. The work is now complete, and the ground floor occupied by The New Craftsmen gallery and shop.

We continue our long-standing work with the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club, one of the top polo clubs in the country. Permission has been granted for a new pavilion on their No. 1 pitch to enable guests and members to watch matches and for hospitality events. A new access road will serve the pavilion, crossing fields and close to trees in this Green Belt location.
Client: RCBPC The Grosvenor Estate have published their review of completed projects for 2017, and once again we were pleased to see a number of our cases included in the annual publication. This included the project at Bourdon Street, where we provided heritage advice relating to the conversion of a former mews/stables to commercial space and two flats above.
Client: Grosvenor Estate London We were contacted by a landowner who was notified of an application for a mobile phone mast on land opposite their land. Our client was concerned with the proximity of the mast and equipment, so we lodged an objection on their behalf. The application was refused by the local planning authority, but an appeal lodged. We made further representations at the appeal stage, and the scheme was dismissed by the Inspector.
Client: MSG Group Looking sparkling in the Spring sunshine, we were pleased to see the completion of a roof extension to a mixed commercial and residential property on Fulham Road, Chelsea.
The Council had refused planning permission for the extension on the grounds of design, for this prominent corner site adjoining a conservation area. We successfully argued at appeal that the design was more suited for the building and context than the 'traditional' scheme the Council preferred. The Inspector agreed that there should always be a place the zinc finish would be suitable. Client: private developer We have worked for many years with the award-winning designers Jonathan Tuckey Design. We assisted with their move to new premises in West London, achieving the change of use of a former public house to become their new creative hub. The conversion has seen a clever renovation and adaptation of the property.
Client: Jonathan Tuckey Design We were called in by solicitors to assist one of their clients who was at threat from prosecution for non-compliance with an enforcement notice and dismissed appeals. The client had been told he must vacate the land and effectively lose all rights for any useful purpose.
We appraised the case and came to a different interpretation of the situation. We then undertook discussions with the local authority and submitted a series of applications to regularise the use of the land. In the face of continued prosecution action, we managed to negotiate a new building on the land and storage in the countryside. Client: private company Permission has been granted for the change of use of a commercial building in the centre of Cobham, Surrey, to become a yoga studio. The case raised issues of highway safety, parking and potential noise. The level of employment and the effect on the conservation area were added factors. Planning permission was granted by the Council under delegated powers.
Client: Cobham Yoga Permission has been granted for an extension to the rear of a large nursing home in a suburban area of Woking, Surrey. The client had a need to provide new training facilities for his staff due to increased regulatory requirements. Off-site training facilities were a big cost, so this new extension will allow the company to provide in-house facilities more economically and efficiently. The site adjoins houses and is within a conservation area, with protected trees surrounding. Permission was granted under delegated powers.
Client: Surrey Rest Homes Planning permission has been granted for the change of use of premises within a conservation area, to become a fish & chip, and pizza takeaway. The client is expanding their business into the local area and this new outlet will soon be popular in the town.
