It was good to see a completed project when on a recent visit to London. We provided advice to the Grosvenor Estate regarding the reuse of a post-War building designed for residential and bank use, by the Ronald Ward Partnership. The bank had closed down leaving a large space in a key corner frontage, adjoining listed buildings and in a conservation area. We assisted in the plans for the building and it is now back to active use.

Planning permission has been granted for remodelling and extension works to a large detached house on a prominent site in a Richmond conservation area. We worked with the architects to present a scheme that adapted the building and added further floorspace to this family home.
Client: private householder We have obtained planning permission for a warehouse building near Heathrow Airport, on a site adjoining the Green Belt. Planning permission had been granted on the land in the past and development commenced in order to keep that permission 'alive'. Our clients wished to see changes to the building to increase the attractiveness to the modern market, so we pursued an application for amendments to the scheme and the extensive planning conditions and legal agreement. Permission was granted under delegated powers.
Client: private developer We have recently received a Certificate of Lawfulness for a client's house in Chelsea, London. There had been questions regarding the use and layout of the property which needed to be regulated. We prepared a comprehensive submission to the Council to demonstrate how the building was used, including evidence from a number of sources. The application was approved within the statutory period.
Client: private householder A family were hoping to extend their home to provide additional bedrooms and living space, but the Council refused permission twice for their plans. We were called in to advise on a possible appeal. Through a sequence of further applications and eventual appeal, we could put a case that the works to the house would be acceptable and not harmful to the character of the property or wider area. The appeal was allowed, and our clients have secured the space they need.
CIient: private householder Our clients own a commercial building that was built as part of a mixed use development with a planning condition restricting the occupancy to very limited community and healthcare uses. This was restricting the potential letting of the building. We prepared a case to widen the Use Classes that could occupy the premises, in order to improve the chances for finding a new commercial occupier. The application was approved under delegated powers.
Client: private pension fund Our clients own a vacant parcel of land near Heathrow in unproductive use. We made a planning application for the temporary storage use, with access to the main road, which the Council decided to refuse permission. We lodged an appeal against this unreasonable refusal and secured permission for the use as open storage.
Client: private landowner A long-standing client of ours recently experienced neighbouring properties undertaking work without planning permission, and then making applications for further alterations to the buildlings. This led to concerns about loss of privacy, and we wrote to set out the case for permission to be refused, and investigations to be undertaken into breaches of planning control. The Council agreed with our case, refusing permission and opening enforcement investigations.
Client: private householder We were involved in the recent Judicial Review of the issuing of a Special Development Order by the Home Secretary for the use of Napier Barracks in Kent to house aslyum seekers. We provided evidence for the Court, which ruled the decision to house refugees at the site was unlawful.
Client: private Permission has been granted at appeal for the demolition of one house and the erection of two new houses on a 'backland' site in a Surrey village. The Council had refused permission on the grounds of harm to the character of the area and effect on neighbours. We demonstrated that the site could accommodate the two houses without problems, and that access would be acceptable.
